Step 2 in our 8 Steps to Maintaining Moisture and Radiant Skin
It's important to know that if you have acne, rosacea, eczema, sun damage, or other similar skin conditions, the typical Sensitive, Oily, Dry, and Combination skin categories may not apply and your skin might require unique care for healing, moisture and relief.
So, let's first think about What Might Influence Our Skin Type.
Our environment, living habits and health related issues greatly impact the health of our skin, which are to be considered as our skin may be just reacting to those factors.
Here are some common elements that affect our skin type:
* Medications/Prescriptions
* Hormones
* Diet
* Smoking or Secondhand
* Stress
* Pollution
* Harsh weather (Sun/Heat or Cold Exposure)
* Alcohol
* Genetics
* Drugs

Most of us have used skin care products that contain ingredients, such as, Alcohol, Menthol, Fragrances, Abrasives, Synthetics, Chemicals, etc., that we unknowingly thought would benefit our skin, and it actually just created problems.
I once purchased a trusted 30 day, high-end, 3-step skin care (exfoliating/cleansing/moisturizing) system from a celebrity endorsed company, and after only several uses I had 2nd degree burns on my face which literally took months to heal. That's when I decided to Choose a Fresh, Natural Approach to Skin Care.
Dr. Edward Group from the Global Healing Center confirms, "Many of us can use up to 10 skin care products each day; that could be 10 products full of toxic chemicals! Going organic with your skin care routine will help your skin and body steer clear of those toxins—and there are other perks! A recent study suggests using natural ingredients for skin care can help treat hyperpigmentation and inflammation, while another comments on how it can help with photoaging (skin damage caused by the sun’s rays over our lifetimes)."
Once you have rid your cleansing and moisturizing routine from harsh products and are able to rule out the controllable factors that affect your skin's health, you'll then be able to determine your real skin type (as we learned in our previous blog, Step 1 in 8 Steps to Maintaining Moisture.)
As a general rule, Creams or Lotions are best for Dry Skin, Gels and Liquids for Oily or Blemished Skin, and Serums and Light Lotions or Emollients for Combination/Normal Skin Types.

When choosing the right products for your skin type, make sure to first evaluate how product ingredients might affect your skin. Though most of us have the typical skin types, we all have our own unique defining skin that requires different care. Consider using products with all-natural ingredients. Doesn't your skin deserves the best!
